2007 Excellence in Concrete Award

The 2007 Excellence in Concrete Awards were announced November 1, 2007, at a ceremony in Ames, Iowa, hosted by the Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA). The Excellence in Concrete Awards recognize outstanding projects from throughout the state. The awards are presented each November at Iowa State University’s Better Concrete Conference. Entries were judged on the following criteria: Architectural design, project complexity and individuality, engineering challenges, difficulty of construction, workmanship, and use of ready mixed concrete.

The project’s low profile design, which includes a multiple-curved wall, stepped, curved waterfall, and long crescent-shaped pool, fits in with the prairie-style construction of all buildings in the development and enhances the area’s beauty.
